In our comfort zone, there is a sense of familiarity, security and certainty. When we step outside of our comfort zone, we’re taking a risk, and opening ourselves up to the possibility of stress, anxiety, even failure. We’re not quite sure what will happen and how we’ll react. Jesus stepped out of the comfort of Heaven to a world that didn’t know him just to save us from our sin and bring us back to the Father.
Sharing that gift of eternal life with others is our best response to his gift to us. This series should challenge us to be prepared to share our hope, give us confidence, and help us understand our call to pursue relationships with those in our spheres of influence.
Paul said it best when he declared, “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened by a yoke of slavery” (Gal 5:1). The gospel brings freedom; freedom from trying to “earn our way” and from comparing ourselves to others. The gospel causes us to see people and life differently. We will investigate the ways the gospel changes our lives and be encouraged to stand firm in the freedom Jesus provides.
